Grandma's Map of Smells
Memories can live in small things.
When Amara visited Grandma, the house smelled like cinnamon, lemon soap, and old books.
One afternoon, Grandma unrolled a strange map. It had no streets. Instead, it had labels like: Mango summer. Rain on stone. Birthday bread. Sea wind. Grandpa's jacket.
“What kind of map is this?” Amara asked. “A smell map,” Grandma said. “It helps me remember.”
Together, they added new places. The kitchen became cardamom hill. The porch became wet grass corner. The attic became dusty dragon cave.
At the bottom, Amara added one more label: Grandma hug.
“What does that smell like?” Grandma asked. Amara leaned close. “Like home.”
