The Very Brave Crayon
Small things can make a big difference.
In a box of tall crayons, there was one tiny blue crayon.
The red crayon colored fire trucks. The green crayon colored forests. The yellow crayon colored suns.
The tiny blue crayon had been used so much that only a small piece remained. “I am too little to help,” Blue said.
One day, a child began drawing the ocean. The big blue crayon was missing. “Oh no,” said the child.
The tiny blue crayon rolled forward. “I can try.”
Blue colored waves, raindrops, a whale, and a wide sky. It had to work slowly. It had to rest often. But it kept going.
When the picture was done, everyone stared. The ocean looked deep, bright, and alive.
The tiny blue crayon smiled. “I was enough.”
